Drone regulations 2026
End of the national scenarios S-1, S-2 and S-3. Full move to the European framework.
Since 1 January 2026, the national standard scenarios S-1, S-2 and S-3 can no longer be used in France. Missions must be qualified within the European framework: open category, specific category STS-01/STS-02, or an operating authorisation.
The right reflex is to identify the operation category before the weather and before the client quote. A technically simple mission can become administratively sensitive depending on the area, people exposed, height, drone or professional context.
Insurance: the remote pilot and the operator may be liable for damage caused to people, property on the ground and other aircraft. Before each mission, check in writing that your liability/home contract or professional insurance actually covers drone use, the operation category, the drone, the area and the client context.

- Check that insurance coverage is suited to drone use.
- Check DGAC, SIA, RTBA, NOTAM/AZBA and local restrictions.
- Archive the sources consulted in the mission file.
